Grey to Grey: New Blouse for the spring time

More and more people starts making clothes by themselves. And the numbers are still growing. Just in my surrounding more friends telling me, that they bought a sewing machine because they want also to sew some things.
That makes me quite happy, because I know that hobbies like that makes you come down from your work life.
When someone is showing me the first project, I am asking the person how did they feel, when they hold the first finished project in the hands. The answer is every time the same: “Happy und lucky.”
Yes, that is also the feeling I had, when I finished my blouse.

I chose a pattern from the magazine “Easy Burda” (Spring/Summer 2014).
That blouse has raglan sleeves, which I really like. In the originally pattern is it quite short, as you can see in the picture from the magazine. With a different fabric I made the blouse longer.
(For our German readers here is a link where you can buy this magazine.)

Sewing project: Red Coat

This days the sun is shining more and more and I realize that I can not see my dark winter jacket anymore, I need some color.

In the “CUT Magazin” I found this coat pattern. A pattern which is not to difficult.
“CUT” is a magazine about crafting, sewing and other DIY ideas. A magazine made by love and published 2 times a year. You can buy it in the newspaper shop (in Germany) or order one online on the homepage: http://www.cut-magazine.com/magazin/

CUT introduce us in every magazine one fashion label and shows the designer behind. In additional, you can find also one pattern of the designer in the magazine.
This time they talking about the label “ETHEL VAUGHN”, a label from Hamburg, Germany.
Kadda, the designer of ETHEL VAUGHN, calls her style as “urban streetstyle”.
When you check out her homepage you will find for example sweatshirt with really cool all over prints. Here the Link: http://ethelvaughn.com

Scuba was used for the coat in the magazine, I decided to choose wool for my coat and for me it was important, that the fabric has a bold colour. As you can see I took red:

If you finished the coat, send us a picture or link us on Instagram with @wiebkeandlara.
I am looking forward to your pictures.

See you next time! Lovely Greetings!

“Iron and Candy”: Dress for a Christmas Party

For my collegue is the Christmas Party from our Company one of the important day of the year.
So everyone looks really forward to this day and they are really excited what the responsible people have prepared for.

So the slogan for the Party was “Iron and Candy”, It takes some time to decided what I should wear on this day. For me was clear I want to wear a silver top. Now I was searching for some “candy” accessories, after some days looking on google and Pinterest, I decided to sew my own “Candy” Clutch.

Here is my “Iron and Candy” outfit:

Handmade DIY Drawstring Backpack

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hey Everybody! Most people that know me have already seen my collection of these drawstring backpacks from my school time. I also remember a while back having a drawstring backpack  with a Mickey Mouse print for my gym gear that I used as an inspiration.

I have recently discovered a drawstring backpack pattern and used different fabrics.  For me they are very convenient and the fabric gives them an interesting and unique look.

Stay tuned for a more detailed post on these drawstring backpacks, their  sewing pattern and unique fabrics.

A Scarf for HIM or HER

Hey all! Now with fall just around the corner I thought it would be good to head into the scarf department. I saw a similar scarf on etsy and also found PERFECT INSTRUCTIONS on joann.com for this kind of infinity scarf. I made a mini version for Jack from all the scraps, just for fun (I would NOT have him wear a scarf though, in general!).

I used flannel fabric, leather and heavy duty snaps.

Inspiration: infintiy scarf seen on etsy and joann.com
