More and more people starts making clothes by themselves. And the numbers are still growing. Just in my surrounding more friends telling me, that they bought a sewing machine because they want also to sew some things.
That makes me quite happy, because I know that hobbies like that makes you come down from your work life.
When someone is showing me the first project, I am asking the person how did they feel, when they hold the first finished project in the hands. The answer is every time the same: “Happy und lucky.”
Yes, that is also the feeling I had, when I finished my blouse.
I chose a pattern from the magazine “Easy Burda” (Spring/Summer 2014).
That blouse has raglan sleeves, which I really like. In the originally pattern is it quite short, as you can see in the picture from the magazine. With a different fabric I made the blouse longer.
(For our German readers here is a link where you can buy this magazine.)
I hope I have inspired you a bit!
Lots of Love ❤
This days the sun is shining more and more and I realize that I can not see my dark winter jacket anymore, I need some color.
In the “CUT Magazin” I found this coat pattern. A pattern which is not to difficult.
“CUT” is a magazine about crafting, sewing and other DIY ideas. A magazine made by love and published 2 times a year. You can buy it in the newspaper shop (in Germany) or order one online on the homepage: http://www.cut-magazine.com/magazin/
CUT introduce us in every magazine one fashion label and shows the designer behind. In additional, you can find also one pattern of the designer in the magazine.
This time they talking about the label “ETHEL VAUGHN”, a label from Hamburg, Germany.
Kadda, the designer of ETHEL VAUGHN, calls her style as “urban streetstyle”.
When you check out her homepage you will find for example sweatshirt with really cool all over prints. Here the Link: http://ethelvaughn.com
Scuba was used for the coat in the magazine, I decided to choose wool for my coat and for me it was important, that the fabric has a bold colour. As you can see I took red:
As I already told, the pattern is really not to difficult. Buy the magazine and make the coat also to your new sewing project.
If you finished the coat, send us a picture or link us on Instagram with @wiebkeandlara.
I am looking forward to your pictures.
See you next time! Lovely Greetings!
this Post is more for your Inspiration. Sometimes you don`t know how you can give a birthday gift a special look. so maybe that will be an option for you.
I packed some pictures and one of my wood picture holder in paper, fixed with a sticker and put it in a black box with a birthday card.
Finally I tie up the box with a red bow.
Additional I made some gift for my other friends, that is how I packaged the present for those:
See you soon!
Last time I made the “wood picture holder” to decorate my room with some pictures.
In the search for a perfect place for my finished project, I came across to this blank wall in my apartment.
Since a long time I have been searching for some decoration to give this part of my room some color.
Just a poster was not special enough.
Another problem is that I love to receive postcards, but it is really sad that they end up in my desk drawer.
So one day I was standing in front of the wall and finally I got a good idea for my problem.
I would build a card holder for my room, on the same principle as the wood picture holder.
For the back I took a wooden panel, which is 37 cm wide, 92 cm long and 0,5 cm thick.
Further I needed strips of wood, in my case they are 37 cm wide, 3 cm thick and 1,5 cm high. (For each 5 pieces.)
Before I glue my wood strips on the panel, I cut slits in them for holding cards or pictures.
Every 16 cm I fixed the wood strips on the wooden panel.
I am so happy with this solution. An eye-catcher with practical function.
See you next time. Lots of love!
Here is my latest DIY Project. I decided to decorate my room with more pictures, so I have searched for a simple way to show them. A way, where I can also switch them very easily. So I made this wood picture holder.
- some wood (each piece of my wood is 8 cm Length x 7 cm Width x 1 cm Depth, but you can choose any size you want. It is easier when you take thicker pieces)
- a saw
- a pencil
- some picture
First I marked with a pencil and a ruler the middle of the wood piece. Next, I took the saw and cut a slit in each (be careful to not cut through the pieces, just to the middle). Now you need just some pictures. I am a big “sneaker freak”, so I cut out some pictures of sneakers from older magazines and gluing it on some cardboard.
I can imagine that this would be also a perfect birthday gift.
Hey Everbody! Have you ever had a shirt and you wanted to create something different with it? I love recycling old clothes and making something new with it. I was at the thrift store and found two of the same dresses with this amazing colorful pattern and an off white chiffon shirt. I kept one of the dresses in my size for myself and I used the fabric of the other dress to add to the shirt.
Here is what you need:
- Sewing Machine
- Colorful Fabric
Have fun upcycling your shirts!
