Sewing project: Red Coat

This days the sun is shining more and more and I realize that I can not see my dark winter jacket anymore, I need some color.

In the “CUT Magazin” I found this coat pattern. A pattern which is not to difficult.
“CUT” is a magazine about crafting, sewing and other DIY ideas. A magazine made by love and published 2 times a year. You can buy it in the newspaper shop (in Germany) or order one online on the homepage: http://www.cut-magazine.com/magazin/

Prototyp 1

CUT introduce us in every magazine one fashion label and shows the designer behind. In additional, you can find also one pattern of the designer in the magazine.
This time they talking about the label “ETHEL VAUGHN”, a label from Hamburg, Germany.
Kadda, the designer of ETHEL VAUGHN, calls her style as “urban streetstyle”.
When you check out her homepage you will find for example sweatshirt with really cool all over prints. Here the Link: http://ethelvaughn.com

Scuba was used for the coat in the magazine, I decided to choose wool for my coat and for me it was important, that the fabric has a bold colour. As you can see I took red:

As I already told, the pattern is really not to difficult. Buy the magazine and make the coat also to your new sewing project.

If you finished the coat, send us a picture or link us on Instagram with @wiebkeandlara.
I am looking forward to your pictures.

See you next time! Lovely Greetings!

Upcycle Your Shirt – to make it longer and to give it color.

Hey Everbody! Have you ever had a shirt and you wanted to create something different with it? I love recycling old clothes and making something new with it. I was at the thrift store and found two of the same dresses with this amazing colorful pattern and an off white chiffon shirt. I kept one of the dresses in my size for myself and I used the fabric of the other dress to add to the shirt.

Here is what you need:

  • Scissor
  • Sewing Machine
  • Shirt
  • Colorful Fabric
  • Pins
  • Ruler

Have fun upcycling your shirts!

An easy way to give your room a new style | Handmade curtain

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A curtain is not just a way to secure your room against the prying eyes of your neighbor. 🙂
You can give your home a new atmosphere.

I needed a curtain but I didn’t want to got to a store and buy one. So I started searching for a nice fabric in my boxes. I found the grey one, but the fabric was to short for my window. After a second look I discovered the rest of the white fabric and I sewed it together. Finished! A very easy inexpensive curtain with a big effect.

That’s a good sewing project for beginners. Have fun!

Handmade DIY Drawstring Backpack

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hey Everybody! Most people that know me have already seen my collection of these drawstring backpacks from my school time. I also remember a while back having a drawstring backpack  with a Mickey Mouse print for my gym gear that I used as an inspiration.

I have recently discovered a drawstring backpack pattern and used different fabrics.  For me they are very convenient and the fabric gives them an interesting and unique look.

Stay tuned for a more detailed post on these drawstring backpacks, their  sewing pattern and unique fabrics.
